UNKLE are thrilled to announce that they will be providing music to accompany The Heretics’ Gate, just one of the pieces showcased as part of the exhibition In The Naughty Chair by the newest edition to the Lazarides family, Doug Foster.

Opening to the public 21st January, In The Naughty Chair marks the artist’s first solo show with the gallery as well the only digital-art exhibition to date within their Fitzrovia space. A selection of Foster’s most celebrated works will be showcased alongside an exclusive premier of his newest installation from which the exhibition derives its title.

Those visiting In The Naughty Chair will be able to interact with the artwork displayed over two floors of the gallery space. Part sculpture, part film, the exhibition will revisit Foster’s acclaimed works such as his unnerving take on cryonic preservation Frozen, his stereoscopic study of desperation in a steel-plate box Breather, as well as the ‘domestic scale’ version of his most recent compelling video work and debut collaboration with Lazarides in The Old Vic Tunnels, The Heretics’ Gate

The exhibition boasts FREE ENTRY and is open from 21st January 2011 until 17th February 2011 at Lazarides, Rathbone. For further information head over to www.lazinc.com.

UNKLE – Runaway (Pointman Re-edit)

UNKLE – Runaway (Pointman Re-edit) from UNKLE on Vimeo.

John Nolan animatronics designer and director at Streetlight Films UK, whose credits include Where the Wild Things Are, Harry Potter, Clash Of The Titans, Hellboy 2, Warhorse, Brothers Grimm, Dr Who and Being Human, created an incredible UNKLE robot based on Futura’s Pointmen from the Psyence Ficton and Never Never Land albums.

The robot itself formed part of the ‘Daydreaming with …James Lavelle’ exhibition along with an accompanying video sound-tracked to the instrumental re-working of ‘The Runaway’ (Lupe’s Revenge). The original track appears on UNKLE’s most recent album ‘Where Did The Night Fall’ with its vocal driven hip-hop counterpart featuring on The Answer EP.

Its splintered synths and a shuddering bass-line create an aggression and energy which Nolan harnessed within the robot’s marching stomp towards the camera.

To accompany the video and tie in the theme of ‘The Runaway’ we’re also offering a Square1 remix of the original track as a FREE DOWNLOAD. To download the track, simply hit the ‘FREE DOWNLOAD’ button on the below widget.
